Things to do in Golden CO

Move your body

Colorado is an outdoor paradise, and getting that workout in the outdoors can be a great way to start your day. Here are some of the best things to do in Golden CO outside.

Bike or Hike

If you brought your mountain bike (or want to rent one here), there are great trails near us, but these aren't for novices. You'll have to drive to most of them, but they'll be worth it! If you'd prefer to hike - these trails will work for that too! Chimney Gulch is about 1 mile from our front door. This one has great views of our fair town. A little farther, Apex Park, is about 3.5 miles from the inn. With almost 10 miles of trails, you won't get bored here! Similarly distanced, White Ranch's lower Lot is a 10 minute drive from the inn. South Table Mountain is the closest option for mountain biking and hiking. It's under 0.5 mile from our door! It's steep, but it's a Golden classic!

Want a little assistance with your outdoor escapades? Golden Mountain Guides is our preferred service for guided trips and mountain instruction. And don't forget to stop by Icelantic Skis, an awesome ski and apparel shop right by the inn that produces 100% of their handmade skis right here in the USA. (And their ski artwork is beautiful!)

We absolutely LOVE Adventure West! Renting their Ebikes is a great way to see Golden. Connected to the Adventure West pickup spot, you can hop right on to Clear Creek Trail! We also love walking along the river, if biking isn't your thing, the trail is friendly to both.

Maybe you flew to Colorado or drove for hours. You may need to stretch out. PranaTonic Yoga is a great, close place to do just that!

Get swoll

If you hate the outdoors or just need to lift some weights, we recommend Trailhead CrossFit.

Fill your belly

Lunch bunch

But, if you're like us, you prefer a late morning. Head on over to Abejas for brunch on Saturday and Sunday! Make a reservation, trust us, they have a seasonal menu that will not disappoint.

Lunch is a no-brainer at Thai Gold. The lunch special is so much food! The restaurant has a great outdoor area and it's across the street from the inn! Yes, please!

Indulge is definitely our favorite happy hour in town. The food is chef driven and unique and the wine is perfectly paired! We love the Ahi Tuna Guacamole, let them pick a great wine to go with it!

Supper time

An authentic Himalayan restaurant, Sherpa House is a perfect spot for dinner! The atmosphere is inviting and cultural and the food is delicious.

Beer in Golden? Yes, please!

Beer at Golden City Brewery

There are some great breweries in Colorado and we're lucky to have many that call Golden home. If you like beer, you'll be super pleased with any of the breweries here. We like Golden City Brewery(GCB has been in Golden for more than 25 years, so you know it's good! The service is great too!), Mountain Toad and Barrels and Bottles. And for a beer with an awesome view, check out New Terrain Brewing. You'll thank us.

Entertain your brain

You may think that Golden doesn't have a ton to offer in the way of entertainment. Think again!

Check it out!

And, if the inn feels too modern to you and you'd like to get a better feel for what life was like in the 1800's or you're just interested in the wild history of Golden, walk on down to the Golden History Museum. Set to reopen in June, you'll love what you learn! They have 1800's cabins and a one room schoolhouse too!

If you love culture, get tickets to the next show at Miners Alley Playhouse.

For a lower-key activity, Mountain Lux Candles is fun and unique way to spend an afternoon or an evening. Scent your own candle (yes, scent can be a verb) with over 80 scents to choose from. They'll even drop it off at the inn for you after!
